I think its the other way around -'Western Europeans' DNA traces back to Egypt and other places in the Middle East, not vice versa. The classification "western European DNA" is probably based on the modern groups of peoples.

This actually goes with what we see in the evolution of religions too: for instance, Babylon had a goddess named "Ishtar," while a thousand or so years later the Celts had a goddess named "Eoster" who had a lot of the same qualities and similar mythology... Ba'al was a storm god at the head of his pantheon, Zeus was a storm god at the head of his pantheon, Thor was a storm god at the head of his pantheon, etc... Odd connections like that which trace back through history...
