From the article these are mostly softwood pine forests. ~5000’ asl.
Edit. Also, these aren’t all fully grown trees. You have a mix of mature pines and then smaller new growth pine and deciduous trees filling in the gaps. There are portions so dense it’s difficult to walk through.
