Realize that you may have done more good than you realize with that conversation. During an argument nobody will capitulate and switch sides, but they may still be listening. You father may have taken in a lot of what you said even while arguing against you. Then later on, maybe during a discussion with his wife some of the points you made may come back to him and may seem more reasonable. He may accept some of what you said over time.

Just keep in mind that when disagreeing with someone, don't expect them to change with view on the spot, but that doesn't mean they might not take in your points and change their view over time, especially if you stick to arguing the points and never attacking him personally.
