But Christianity developed in the Early Roman Empire and later developed into Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox when the Empire split between the East and the West. The original Christian texts were all in Latin - which were created through translations of Hebrew texts. The Catholic Church continued to hold services in Latin through the 1960s until the Vatican allowed for mass to be said in the language of the region in order to "modernize".
