Parts of it. I have direct experience with the industry, also in a non-performance role. The label business is pure sleaze, always has been. The touring/recording side is where all the decent people are, they're passionate, care about music, and work their asses off. There's shenanigans in the touring side, but it's nothing compared to label sleaze. Musicians are musicians - some decent, some not so much, and occasionally a total asshole appears. Same can be said for movies, theater, whatever. The support crews are decent people, talent is talent, executives are scum sucking assholes who'd rip you off while shaking your hand and kissing your ass.
I got out of relying on music because it's so feast/famine. One year you're flying high, money is rolling in, everyone wants to work with you, and then boom, the next thing you know everyone is broke, all the contacts on your phone are fired/quit, and you're starting over with a new crowd of assholes, who want to replace you with their college roommate.
