There's no reason to theorize, it could be anything. Having worked at various companies with small power structures, full of schmoozers and brown nosers, I came to think a lot of leads on a team will secretly adopt their bosses' opinion and take the heat for it. That's their job. So all these people going around saying, YOKO BROKE UP THE BAND! She's the fall guy, she's falling on the sword so Tim can make the tough decisions and push forward without losing his viewership.

I have a short list of theories about what happened:

  1. Adam saw the numbers rising and wanted more ownership/ pay, and rightly so. Tim and staff who do a lot more of the legwork rather than just being a fun dude on cam didn't feel it was warranted.

  2. Tim didn't want to be tied down. He doesn't NEED these high numbers with just adam, there are lots of other people he could interview and have on his show and keep thins interesting for himself.

  3. Tim just got tired of Adam's style. He's more about facts and raw news coverage, Adam is more about riling up the crowd. The show was changing under his feet and he just didn't enjoy doing it any more. He could easily be successful doing his news as he enjoys doing it.

Maybe a combination of the above, maybe something we haven't even thought of. It doesn't really matter, they've been professional about the whole thing and a little bit of controversy is good for ratings.

There's no reason to theorize, it could be anything. That said, in hindsight working at various dysfunctional companies full of schmoozers and brown nosers, it's my belief that a lot of the leads on a team will secretly adopt their bosses' opinion and take the heat for it.
