yeah personally my wife puts up better with that mask shit so if she's willing to do things like shopping, great. Means I don't have to put a face diaper on to go. I don't know any businesses that aren't requiring it, most places I've thought to go have signs on the front door making it required. Personally, I don't like confrontation and don't want to find out the store I pick to go to they wig out if you walk in without a mask (because they're terrified of being shut down if they're caught letting someone in maskless). If someone comes up to me and tells me "I need a mask", not only will I promptly leave and not come back, I'll probably say something to them I really don't want to have to and it'll be all I can do not to slap a bitch. It would piss me off that much. If you "make a scene, rest assured the mask-sheep will all gather around while you argue with the managers, and record it to shame you later, then cheer like they won some goddamn victory when the manager kicks you out.
I'm sure if enough people call Murphy's "Karen Hotline" he'll sic the health department on the establishment and "Atilis Gym" them. He's determined not to listen to reality and doesn't want to give up his power right now.
What we have to do is basically absolve the business from any wrongdoing if someone is "contact traced" to have "contracted COIVD" from that business. Basically they can't be sued or have any licenses taken away as long as they followed cleanliness guidelines - they wiped down/disinfected things on a schedule, they kept things neat and clean, etc (masks on the staff is not part of the plan) Absolve them from any liability, maybe then they wouldn't be so paranoid about adhering to forcing people to wear masks in-store.
The Governor basically made everyone the "mask police". The Karen Hotlines where people who love to ruin everyone else's day will call just to fuck you over, the tattle on your neighbor for having a party website, the stores themselves threatened with shutdown for letting ONE person in maskless, etc. it's gotta stop. Just refusing to wear the mask only works in places that don't care. If they're paranoid about losing their business license, their health certificate or whatever they're still going to be very aggressive about masks.
Hell, officially you're supposed to be able to go to parks maskless as long as you can distance or you go hiking on back trails and aren't constantly mingling with groups. Can't do that in Essex County though, all the county parks have big signs at the entrances "Masks and Social Distancing Required". So I haven't basically done much of anything outside of a few family/friends parties, visiting my parents and my wife's family since lockdowns started. I still work from home, and outside of once we went to a chain restaurant and ate outside for my nephew's birthday only picked up/ordered in or made our own food. I'm just not going to voluntarily give in to wearing a mask just so I can "get out of the house".
