Why do I feel like we on the right are always losing? It seems like society doesn't want or respect right wing philosophy and government anymore.
Because Respect has nothing to do with Philosophy.
The French had a revolution against the Monarchy. In the middle of it was the horrific "Reign of Terror" where thousands of heads were cut off. Afterward many people wrote about it, trying to figure out why it happened that way. The largest consensus was that it went bad because of Philosophers.
to suggest that the philosophers of the French Enlightenment were somehow responsible for the French Revolution, and his argument was taken up, and elaborated on, by many historians, including Tocqueville and Lord Acton. The philosophes undoubtedly provided the ideas.
Philosophers are no where to be found, when Respect and dignity are needed, as their ideas are being implemented.
