Sometimes I agree that ignorance is bliss, I kinda miss the days when I paid zero attention to politics and politicians. These people, and all their cronies, and business partners, all the connections they have made, all the insider trading and "you scratch my back..." deals have resulted in them living a life of unimaginable power and wealth, money and power that can be passed on to their children, and last multiple generations.

The idea that they would just let that slip away because of a rule or law is laughable, the worst case scenario is that someone actually has the balls to go after you, and even then you can afford the best lawyers to defend you, plus the press will leap to your defence to sway public opinion, and the core of the system is so rotten that it is in nobodies best interest to enforce the law anyway.

That alone is depressing enough, but it goes much deeper, even if the politicians themselves are not psychopaths, there are equally wealthy and powerful people out there who are willing to kill to protect them, and thus protect their gravy train.

I suspect 95% of the convenient deaths that have followed the Clinton's their entire career could be attributed to that, it's not necessarily Hillary making a phone call and saying "kill that guy" - it's probably someone else whose interests are aligned, and he is protecting himself by protecting Hillary
