So, what do y'all make of people who swap near-identical items? Have you seen this on cam?

I confess I've done that once or twice before when it was over something picky & I was too embarassed to explain my perfectionism about why I was exchanging something for another one of the same thing to the cashier. Literally the exact same barcode, and other less observant people would probably see no difference between the two items. Because most people do not care about quality to that degree... Took the slightly "defective" one (i.e. not exactly the right matching shade or slightly wonky in quality, but still in basic working condition) that I wanted to exchange out of my bag, put it back on the shelf with the other ones so someone who's not as picky as me can still buy a fine item, & put a new one that met my accute specifications in my bag. Had the receipt with me & didn't actually return it, so I did buy the item... And aside from examining the previous item with unneccessary scrutiny, I didn't tamper with the one I put back. Is it illegal if you swap for a satisfactory quality item of what you already paid for??

I know this seems stupid, and it probably is, but I struggle with OCD tendencies sometimes... Gets worse when I'm under a lot of stress.

Probably makes me look sus as fuck on cams, though. And I've always wondered what the people watching on cams would be thinking... Lol.
