The plan appears to be to completely undermine the legitimacy of the Court, and of this process. So that then they can use that to justify packing the Court (and all lower courts) as soon as they can.

Ironically, Trump has "packed the courts" because 0bama never filled the positions. So, like most of these "issues", the Ds create the problem and then propose the draconian response to the problem.
