China and others certainly don't help, but this shitshow has been ongoing since the dawn of time. It's just dissonance in their brains that needs removal. Hard to come to terms with believing your whole life that institutions were good, like 60 minutes, and then have to deal with the paradigm shift. They also voted for Romney and McCain and the Bush family and continue to vote for similar politicians, so you can imagine the situation is not good for these people. Hopefully the conditioning continues to be broken, it has to happen.
