Public polls are meant to influence opinion.

Seriously, I'm not joking. Whoever pays for the poll wants a desired result, and the push the pollster to weight the poll in thier favor.

Dems and Republicans spend alot of money in "detterence" which just means that they are trying to deter supporters of the other party from going to the polls, usually by lowering morale.

What better way to lower morale, than by convincing the other candidates base that they have no chance.
