What I want to know is (and I think we all do) is how long has this been going on historically?

I'm sure during the gilded age it was pretty widespread, but how about the 20th century?

I get the feeling that our elections only got 'slightly' more legit when the population got large enough to prevent abuse from being impactful, but with co-ordinated mass fraud through long range means - how long has this been going on?

(edit from what I've found so far - pretty long - modern voting with ballots only became standard around 1920 - but that didn't stop rigging)
