As Chesty (peace be upon him) and his Marines retreated behind the Army, they collected the gear and Army wounded on their way. When they reached "safety," The Army commander thanked Chesty and asked for his men's gear. Chesty had the Marines paint USMC on all of that gear and told the Army commander that he would have to fight him for it.
