As someone who has run 100s of thousands of PCR runs, this is entirely possible when running as many cycles as they do for these tests. Even the slightest contamination or even the slightest change in conditions will make a difference. The test is bogus. They should run 25-30 cycles max EDIT: Just looked up this test and it is not a PCR test. My bad.
