Think about it this way:. If your rep-sp (x) is zero, then the lowest possible y value is zero since the lowest possible non-sp-rate for trump is zero. So, in terms of possible numbers, we know this graph can only have negative y's as large as X's are positive. (So let's not be shocked that it looks that way)
