I imagine 2000 years ago the lines of right and left were probably pretty different tbf. Probably was on the left back then in honesty. Especially since it's the 'new testament' and they killed him. The old testament is a lot more hardcore.

I imagine when they were trying to convert the pagan tribal people's it probably felt pretty left wing to them since they probably had a more hardcore worldview than Christian values. In fact I've heard that when tribes first started adopting Jesus he started off with a hammer and what not.
