Preferably, any action would take place before the inauguration, to prevent him from being sworn in. Storming the White House is suicide, but Congress might be feasible. Individual members of Congress can definitely be intercepted and arrested at home.

Hoping for a military coup is pointless. Betting your life and the nation on somebody else potentially doing something seems ... weak. Apart from the fact that it's highly unlikely.

The IRA, to be fair, to my knowledge mostly targetted military and other official representatives of their enemy. There have been some spectacular blunders and mistakes, but nobody is forced to repeat them. Deliberately targeting civilians is out of the question, very obviously. I would imagine any approach rather in line with guerilla warfare.

In any case, even if just for protesting, organization and networking is required. You are doing it right, asking, "what will we do exactly?" Most people just seem to think it will just somehow happen and somebody will tell them what to do, when even normal war is often total chaos. Most people aren't prepared and have no plan of action for when shit hits the fan. The only ones capable of more or less limited action seem to be the preppers and the militias.

Maybe a Maidan scenario would be possible, to descend onto DC in early January with masses of people and just completely occupy a strategical government area, like surrounding the Capitol. After demanding new elections for one or two weeks, and after refusal from the authorities, the Capitol could be stormed and seized, certain members kicked out, the rest be "persuaded" to vote for new elections (passing of a necessary law or the like), declaring the previous one invalid. Something along these lines.

Or it's the other way round and people take the Eastern Ukraine approach, storming their local authorities, declaring independence and establishing and defending a security parameter (border). But one way or the other, Ukraine could be an inspiration and blueprint for whatever action the people want to take.
