They may not have played their hand yet. They will not be as nice to us as Trump was to their folks. But this will be a dance, back and forth. One side will escalate and the other side will do the same. Had Biden been legitimately elected, maybe he could have de-escalated and created a detente but I don’t see it happening. In the republican voters eyes, he has been delegitimized already. And the actions of his government will surely make things worse if he gets into power. You don’t know that you’re in a totalitarian system if you don’t try to test the boundaries of your freedom. They will take their thumb and press it down on any resistance as they did the past 4 years.

In 10-20 years, they will have a uni-Party state. I think this will be a shift from the passive Civil Cold War into an active Civil Cold War for the next 4 years. I don’t mean a hot war, but a constant and active state of two sides in a full on political power struggle. One way or another, no matter which candidate wins, the country is on a crash course. And if neither side is willing to submit, then what? Ukraine and Russia - two countries came out of the Soviet Union because they couldn’t live together in harmony. Balkanization is a very likely long term future here once things get too amped up.

Or the alternative, where one group dominates the other, like the outcome of the Chinese civil war where the conservatives were forced to flee to Taiwan. Then 70 years of being dominated. It took Ukraine 3-4 generations to become free from the Soviet Union, after the Bolshiveks genocided them in the early 1930’s / Holodomor. The Soviet Union didn’t fall until 1990. 60 years after a genocide under the thumb of the guilty.
