Finally made an account after lurking on T_D since 2016 and then migrating over here... I just am at my wits end.

My parents (I’m 19 and am going to tech school on the other side of the state) just called me to tell me not to come home for thanksgiving, due to kung flu.

I saved my own money to get a ticket and I pay my own way for school. They don’t help out at all financially.

I was really upset, as I took off days from work and barely scaled by enough to make this all happen. Now I’ll be stuck here alone with no groceries on thanksgiving when I’ve done nothing but what I’m supposed to. All because they chose to be sheep.

Don’t get me wrong, I love and respect them... but when I called to tell them how upset I was that they were cancelling and that I’d lose out on my ticket, was broke with no food, etc... they told me that I was being selfish and that I was being naïve and so on and so forth. I asked them to PayPal me so I could at least eat and they said they had overextended themselves donating to the local rescue mission.

WTF?!? I don’t even want to think about Christmas.
