So I have a tumblr, which is pretty fucking shitty, but I don’t see anything on there except art that I like to use for inspiration/wallpapers/ etc. And poetry.

Its the same way I have a Reddit that only has r/horrorlit/suggestmeabook/ and other stuff for reading and or movies.

Anyway, my point is....I was heavily into social media like any one else my age (29F) and lived through the glory days of T_D. Obviously, Trump being president and the obvious decline of America opened my eyes to my (and my sons) social media use/phone use. And I gradually declined to where all I have left are the things I listed above. NOW this brings me to the “aesthetic” part.

The things I idolize on tumblr/Reddit is the classical art, appreciation of the arts/music/literature, but that I was never ACTING on them. This is because social media is a facade of the aesthetic, not the self-actualisation that can actually come of it.

Me, my partner, and our son now read, practice penmanship with fountain pens (and cursive), spend a LOT of time outdoors trying to match plants and fungi to the ones in the books, he hunts when it’s youth season, we shoot guns, we cook out of cookbooks (no longer YouTube), and life is fucking BETTER. SO. MUCH. BETTER.

The inadvertent consequences to all this social media bullshit is them driving us away (cough t_d) but it’s actually BETTER. I can browse td.win, and be perfectly happy.

The “aesthetic” that you want to have in your life IS ACHIEVABLE, you just have to be willing to cut the cord, because the online facade blocks you from reaching a full potential.
