When selecting a VP candidate you typically want to select a popular but more importantly MODERATE person from a middle America state in which the citizens can relate. Three criteria of popular, moderate, middle America. Middle America in the sense of a pretty fair balance of Dems and Rep constituents. Look at Pence or even Tim Kaine who wasn’t particular popular but was at least not crazy extreme and came from an arguably swing state of left leaning Virginia.
Biden selects an unpopular candidate (abysmal primary performance), extremely progressive and nowhere near moderate (voted most Progressive in Senate), from possibly the most liberal city in America (San Francisco). This doesn’t meet any of the three typical criteria a VP pick. And obviously most people see Biden as old and her possibly taking the reigns if elected.
Just figured this needs to be mentioned although this election almost can’t even be compared to others in this atmosphere. For most of Biden voters it’s less a vote for him and more a vote against Trump. We’ll see how this horrible “VP” selection plays out with middle America who has already rejected her
