Quite costly to finance two standing militaries( one Federal and a Militia based to keep the other in check). The Swiss do it right, they are also not playing super power (which is now broke), but are neutral but well armed. Of course, they have a geographic advantage with their terrain and location, but also disadvantages. Their small amount of professionals are the core for the militia based system. The citizen in uniform is still the best model to prevent what happened with the US military.
Learn a real trade, like HVAC tech, plumber, electrician, welder and then get into underwater welding. I work in construction engineering: electricians are always busy, HVAC tech,too. We talked to one electrician we work with on a project and he only has his company name on his vehicle to honor his father who passed. No phone number, just word of mouth and he says he is crazy busy just working for existing customers and referrals from them. He only took the project from us because he knew my boss. Get with a good union company. The union trains their guys and most public work only hire union contractors. And funny,but true, often the union jobs are cheaper than the non-union ones.
I did 13 years in the military and was lucky to wirk early in higher up command posts. After that experience, I got out as soon as possible, because the inept always get promoted "away"..... Clearly visible in the higher ranks.
For rational men, marriage is no longer desirable. The risks outweigh the potential gains. If anyone can "walk" away at any time from the contract without consequences, and the men will get screwed over 95% of the times by the courts, this model is doomed. The only way forward is deleting no fault divorce from the books, or a new private "contract" with enforcement. In some states, even cohabitation is a no no anymore.

Well, in reality, a lot of people didn't give much shit about what the chinese friendly RINO in Indy was saying or doing. At least here in the south-western corner.
