I'm sure that there are plenty of women who have bought in to the idea that if men who believe they are women aren't allowed to play where they wish that they'll literally kill themselves, which frames this as a matter of life and death. Also I think it is safe to say that a large amount of women out there place no value on women's sports. With that in mind, those same women would be happy to sacrifice something they don't value in exchange for something they do - in this case, virtue signaling, "Someone's life is more important than someone setting a record or winning a medal."
