Religion has a simple purpose in human society and that is to remind people that we all benefit from the success of others.
I don't flip the burgers at my local hamburger joint. I don't stock shelves. I don't deliver goods with a truck.
Out base instincts are to be selfish. It's nature as self-preservation comes first. Yet, leaning all energy into the self does not yield optimal outcomes as the society itself has massive survival benefits.
Atheists think that they can regulate their own selfish desires without a governing ethos. I say none are too just and righteous not to need to be reminded that we are dependent on each other.
That was back when most POTUS put up with everyone on DC getting to be a pig at the trough.
There's one thing DC universally loathes and that's a POTUS aimed at reducing corruption.
Remember that the old deal was that the party in power got first crack at corruption and then they'd swap.
It's always the same. People in power for too long.
One year of service per lifetime. That should be the limit for politicians. Bureaucrats should get ten years and a forced expulsion from any government related job (contracting, consulting, or support included).
If something is important enough to warrant change then multiple politicians over many cycles should move the ball. Otherwise, let the measures fail.
