It used to be one had to be a US citizen to work for the US government and its contract companies. Nowadays, many US agencies allow the hiring of H1B workers to work on many government projects some of which could be of sensitive nature. Sometimes, H1B workers are actively recruited by hiring managers who came with similar backgrounds after they became naturalized.
The US government is funded by the American taxpayers. Should it be actively hiring qualified American workers first? What are your thoughts?
One important provision is paying taxes. Maybe the vote count would have a numerical weight based on how much someone pays in taxes, but the weight would taper off after a threshold to prevent wealthy globalists from having too much weight.
I detest H1B program. I have to advise my kids not to get into certain fields of occupation like software to avoid having their jobs outsourced. The one industry that is somewhat insulated from H1B is the defense industry since only US citizens can work there.
What I find irate is the hiring of H1B by the US government agencies. In the 80’s, almost everybody who worked for a US agency was a US citizen. Nowadays, many US agencies employ H1B workers.
That’s why the founding fathers were never fond of democracy (one man one vote). The worst thing with democracy is that you have people who have no idea what they vote for other than the premise of getting free stuff.
Does it make sense that the vote cast by an informed taxpayer counts the same as the vote cast by a welfare recipient who never pay taxes or by some third world immigrant who cannot read and write English and understand the American culture and history?
How can we make politicians vote themselves out of their jobs? The only way it could be done is to have a national referendum, but that would also require amendment to the US constitution.
The key is to ban corporate lobbying so that politicians cannot put special interest ahead of the people who voted for them. Imagine all the riots on K-street if this were to happen.
We have a broken system. It takes an outsider like Trump who tries to drain the swamp, but he is only one man. Perhaps when things become so bad and people are fed up enough that they’d march on the Capitol Hill, then these corrupt politicians would know that they’d better change.
Are you in a red or blue state? I am curious if anyone here who is knocking doors in a blue state has experienced any harassments from leftists. I have given some thoughts about volunteering although I also have donated quite a bit. But I do live in a very liberal area, so I have some concerns.
