don't know what you're saying or who you're referring to, but putting NATO troops along their Eastern front with non-NATO Ukraine (which would mean Western Ukraine) is not the same as putting troops "on Russia's border"

Since all's fair in war... why couldn't China (or North Korea) provide Russia with missiles to shoot down these jets?

"because Ukraine is a US ally" doesn't work if you're not an ally of the US.
