Yeah i cant imagine there is a shortage in logs....what would be strange was if the harvesters werent making a killing right now.

What i think is driving the cost is a few things....

1. When a lot of people got stuck home, they started doing home renovations...this started the price climb last spring.

2. People in cities started flooding out and and building houses in more rural areas.

3. Lumber prices tend to rise in the buildup to US military interventions.

4. A massive swath of Oregon's working forest went up in flames last summer.

5. US sawmills have to compete with Canadian mills like Irving. Irving is able to pay more per stumpage for US logs than a US mill can and then they can sell the lumber cheaper in the US than US mills can sell it for.....unless there was a spike in Canadian demand at the same time as the US spike that would keep Irving from selling that lumber back to the US like normal (See #1 and #2).

False. Prior to the war on poverty, blacks were moving up the social & econmic latter faster than whites and whites were more likely to have kids out of wedlock than blacks.

I just read those articles (from the same pollsters that said Trump would loose in '16) and most are showing a near even split...some. like blacks on gay marriage are more conservative than the white people they surveyed.
