I know exactly what I'm talking about. PC gaming and console gaming is exactly the same in the modern day and it sucks, sucks bad.
- Required internet access
- Required accounts / logins
- Required updates, that may take a long time
- Broken games that may not get fixed, if ever
- Games filled with identity politics / social justice woke bullshit
- Overall lack of content in games
- Compatibility issues
- Unnecessary "launchers" (cough, Rockstar Games)
- Much higher risks of multiplayer games being ruined by cheaters
- Monthly subscriptions
- Pay to win garbage (loot boxes)
This is the modern PC/console experience and it's fucking garbage. This is why the N64/PS2 era will always be the best.

The login system is down. You can access YT from any browser or device if you are not logged in.
I disagree. PC gaming is cool and all but it has even more problems, including all of the modern console problems.
I miss the PS2/N64 days. Modern consoles suck so bad, it's not even funny.
Ahead of schedule and under budget.
It could mean many things, some possibilities:
- they are adjusting algorithms to be even more against conservatives
- seized by the government due to election interference or censorship
- hacked by Chyna (though, IDK why, China already has their hands in Google)
- most unlikely, they could be undoing commie algorithms
Google Maps is also down, it says "can't connect" when I select a location.
It's real, my Gmail is down, as well as YouTube.
I know that it's common sense to use Linux over Windows, but I've been on W7 for so long that I have no idea how to live without it. I tried W10 for a while in 2016 and it was a horrible experience, I could not find anything, had less access, couldn't turn off undesirable apps/programs, bloatware, it auto-deleted files/programs I needed that could be seen as a virus, and the UI was ugly. I never used a Mac but already know I never will for the obvious reason - everything I need is on Windows. I've never used Linux and if I did, I wouldn't know where to begin. I am opening to trying it at some point (probably not soon) but eventually. Maybe you can recommend which version based on my hardware and needs:
I am on the HP EliteBook 8770W from 2012 (I hate modern laptops for many reason so I refuse to upgrade) 16GB DDR3, i7-3920XM 2.9 to 3.8GHz, NVidia Quadro K4000M, 2TB Micron SSD.
One of my main tasks is playing games, most of the games I like to play run well on this system. The only game that I ever tried to play that was too much was RDR2. Most games I play are from Steam & Origin.
My other main task is that I do some modding for a few different old school games (2005 era) I can't say what those games / projects are because I don't want to dox myself, but overall I make daily use of things like Gimp, Notepad++, hex editors, and of course all of the proprietary dev programs that comes with those games (level editors mainly, Windows-only programs)
Sometimes I record game play videos in full 1080p and convert them to a more compatible lightweight format using VLC media player.
Lastly, the only other heavy task I do, but not a lot, is running PS2 games through the PCSX2 emulator.
If all of these things can be accomplished with Linux, show me which version and I will look over it and think about it for a while.
Well I didn't know you were a tech person, I assumed you were some out of touch boomer at first.
Windows 7 for life.
Most programs have a "history" option. For example, I'm writing this comment on my phone using the Brave browser app. I can access my web history by tapping the 3 dots in the bottom right and clicking "history".

Sounds and textures take the most space (I assume) and they are just too lazy to compress.
