This is what people should understand about the military. The US hasn't fought a real war in over a generation. The officers are being indoctrinated all the same. While the regular guys may be conservative, their officers are probably split 50/50 if not worse. Those officers are glorified bureaucrats, much like our academics and civil servants. In a hypothetical scenario, crippling federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies should be a goal. High value targets.
Realistically, if the people rise up in general, the DS cannot win. However, Americans are too passive, ignorant, and complacent.
