I also have depression, at one point my doctor told me I had extreme depression. I was taking 3 different medications, drinking lots and smoking weed all day, every day. I've seriously considered killing myself numerous times. (I'm good now, done with all that shit).
The fact is, if you are struggling with depression you are mentally strong. It's hard to deal with that shit, its relentless. Weak people just give up.
Dumb people don't get depressed. People without morals don't get depressed. You get depressed because you see how shitty the world is and it deeply bothers you (as you described in your post).

Something that helped me was this: When your brain tells you to give up, kill yourself, its hopeless, etc. just imagine its someone else saying that to you.
