My theory is that this is the full test run of their fraud system. If, in this political climate, they can run a senile white guy and a woman who went above and beyond to punish people for petty crime then they could elect anyone they wanted going forward. And if it fails it's no great loss. Joe and Kamela would either be a puppet regime or the people left holding the bag. They'll refine their system and try it again unless it's stripped out of the political process.
