According to the rules, Pence can't select alternate electors without a majority vote in congress. That will never happen because truth and evidence doesn't matter at this point, only loyalty matters and most of congress is controlled by their paymasters, the media and the deep state. If he does attempt to stop the certification, it would likely be through a filibuster until either congress forces him to vote, ignores him, or Trump can execute an old-fashioned power struggle. Unless Trump knows something I don't, which may be the case, if they went that route it would need to involve actually arresting people, meaning he would need a monopoly on force. Are people loyal to him in the DOD and SS willing to fight over this? Whatever happens, it will be for the history books, I just hope we are the ones to write them.
