In the words of ugly feminists everywhere: “speech is violence”. If that’s the case, then the current rioting seems to bear out that violence is also violence... the time is not far distant when both speech and violence will be needed to fight against the left. I pray it remains speech, but I candidly see violence on the horizon.
I kid you not my great great great grandfather was a major in the British army of India who led troops back into Cawnpore during the mutiny. He was awarded by Queen Victoria following the mutiny for heroism. I know some of what he was engaged in, but the reality of what the Indian and sepoy troops did to the white women and children of that cantonment was horrific. Perhaps doesn’t justify the response, but after 10 years service as an Army officer myself, pretty sure I would have felt fine strapping people like that to the fronts of M119 howitzers and firing off a saluting charge. Will say that India never ever contemplated mutiny again after the absolute brutality of the retribution visited on them.
People have the governments they deserve in every case. Venezuelans got what they voted for and what they represent. Government, given time, is simply the embodiment of the morality, ethics, and beliefs of the populace. True for communist China, North Korea, and the United States. I’ve traveled all over the world and have seen firsthand how this is the case. Africa as a continent has tremendous natural resources, in many places tremendous fertility, but it is full of Africans. Corruption, illiteracy, and crime are rampant. This isn’t something being done to this continent. Likewise, in America, it is the decay in morality that has led to the total decline we see around us of politicians, the media, our judicial system, and the entertainment industry. Mexico has mineral resources, oil, a mild climate, but it is full of Mexicans and therefore it is what it is. Remove the people and put in a different group, and you get totally different outcomes. Not saying this to be racist, but so much of the youth of this country looks around the world and sees victims of oppression, colonialism, capitalism etc to explain corrupt or tyrannical regions of the world. I reject that. Countries are the way they are because of the general characteristics of their people. Countries that are crime ridden, dirty, and corrupt largely have populace’s that are criminal, dirty, and corrupt. Always exceptions and good people everywhere, but big picture this is the case.
There is not one standard of slavery enumerated in the Bible. The most common form was probably bond or debt slavery, where someone sold themselves into slavery to pay off debts. This could not last longer than 7 years, so if the debt was not paid by that point, they were freed anyways. Keep in mind the Old Testament took place over as much as 4000 years of history, so when considering it, reflect on the amount of change in America. Society in 300 years. The other type of slavery would be more akin to Slavery as we know it. This was largely centered on the taking of slaves in battle and was probably not too pleasant. Women could be taken as war prizes and forced to marry Israelites etc. it calls for a nuanced reading of the Bible and an appreciation for the fact that we’re not meant to judge God or his teachings, rather we should seek to understand and accept god for who He says He is. “My ways are not your ways”. Slavery is a tough issue to reconcile in the Bible, but some of it is clearly cultural and we should keep in mind that it is only in the last 200 years that the world has really moved away from this sad and inhuman practice. Although I’m being over generous as large parts of the world still practice slavery, particularly in Asia and the Muslim world.
I mean it’s a bit more nuanced than that. Christ came to fulfill, not abolish the law of Moses, which was a law instituted by Christ as “Jehovah”, the god of the Israelites who came to earth later as Jesus Christ the mortal man, who then suffered and died for sin so that all could find atonement for sin and be resurrected from death. The law of Moses (Leviticus 1-7) was given sort of as a punishment to the Israelites for their wickedness and idolatry at mount Sinai, and was meant to humble and prepare the Israelites for the higher law that Christ would bring in his role as the redeemer of mankind. There is not any disagreement between the old and New Testament, as it is all Christ instituting his doctrine. In the New Testament, Christ’s pre-mortal doctrine had been polluted by hypocritical Jewish leaders known as the Sanhedrin and the Pharisees. Respectively the small body of Jewish rulers and then a larger priestly class of men who were highly concerned with the letter rather than the spirit of the law. The way their religion was practiced was not in harmony with the teachings instituted by Christ/Jehovah and taught by his prophets. Paul in the book of Hebrews s largely addressing this point, that in Christ the law of Moses is fulfilled. This was because there were early members of the church who still followed the lesser law, ie law of Moses. Also taught in Romans chapter 7, Galatians 3:19-24, and Christ himself declares this in Mathew 5:17-18 “ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
I think the issue though now is that the left has provided perfect cover for blacks to kill whites for no other reason than race. I agree that this is not by any means the full story, but you would not be able to put together a comparable infograph of blacks murdered by whites. The crime flows heavily in one direction and it is being grossly exacerbated by the blm movement and liberal media which ignores racist attacks on whites by blacks.
