I live in shithole California and will be obviously voting for Trump but also voting in person because I want my vote registered against the multiple property tax increases, against restoring affirmative action, against voting rights for felons still on parole, against rent control, and against letting everyone out of jail in lieu of bail.
I used to be a Democrat, a quite liberal one too. But I value intellectualism and civil discourse, and I find my former party to be in short supply of both. Sometime around 2012 or so, Democrats began to favor conformity far above rationalism. This was highlighted with Mitt Romney's "binders full of women" comment. Taken in context, this statement made perfect sense. He was asked about hiring women for important positions and was referring to having records of their resumes and profiles. But this was taken way, way out of context and used against him, why, because of awkward wording? The criticism had no substance.
Similarly in 2016, the Democrats fell back on their bully tactics to silence dissent. It is the height of arrogance to believe that no person could in good faith disagree with your political agenda, and to assign your opponents broad characterizations that they are racist, sexist, and hateful.
I have known a few prominent conservatives in my life and even when I was liberal, if I came at them with respect regarding an issue, they always engaged me in a logical, respectful discussion and presented their argument well. I have never experienced the corollary with a Democrat, because once you identify as a conservative, as a Trump supporter, or God forbid as a Christian, they are convinced that they have you completely pegged, and know your motivations and beliefs and that nothing you have to say can be worthy of their time.
In large part, I left the Democratic Party about 5 or 6 years ago because they are hateful bigots.
California, VOTED TRUMP!
