There's no such thing in reality as a private company in the ideal sense they would like. The government interferes in a bazillion of ways, ingeniously labeled as "regulations". Just like you don't have liberty today in the same sense that it was meant when the Constitution was drafted, as the government does not use its arsenal only on companies. When they complain about things like that (the smart ones at least), they react to the further distancing of reality from their ideal. Just like when you complain about Liberats when they try to encroach more of your remaining pieces of freedom.
Now, onwards to your sage advice. What exactly does "breaking up twitter" mean? Splitting company in 5 parts? Splitting the site in separate, mini twitters?
