I'd prefer to see police enforcing the laws, rather than taking orders from politicians. What? are they going to arrest themselves for doing their job? They're part of the problem in a way that entirely different from the popular "fuck the police" narrative. As the unrest spreads, many are growing resentful of the lack of police response. It is related that I see an increasing number of petty crimes going unpunished in my city. This is conjecture, but I suspect it is the consequence of police being afraid to engage inner-city people, and that power dynamic being very well understood by the criminally minded.
