I’ve been saying. NY will -at least- go purple. Upstate is Red. And most of the limousine liberals have moved out of NYC. And the nonsense with crime, 9/11, riots in Rochester? At the very least, purple. If not flipped Red. Soooo many people are pissed about 9/11. And its close to election day. Seriously, I think they (Dems) are actually trying to get Trump re-elected.

I think the governor did this because he was in a pissing contest. NY, NJ & CT are usually in lockstep & CT opened gyms a month or two ago?

Its a really nice sentiment, but it NEEDS to be at the towers. Not even another place in NYC would do. Yes, every other place in America should have a memorial event (I am now in a NYC suburb, and we do every year) but the lights & the reading of names needs to be at the spot where it happened.

There was a mass movement about this, a huge public outcry on social media, and Cuomo “changed his mind” The lights will be on this year. Also, Tunnels to Towers will continue with their tribute regardless. But all this non-sense, not just the 9/11 memorials bit the handling of Covid & needless nursing home deaths & putting heathy people on vents & them dying has hurt the people of NY to the core, I really think NY will flip red.

There has been a lot of governors banning it, then quietly reinstating it. There has been guidance to pharmacists to question doctors before dispensing it. This is all because President Trump mentioned it, doctors have called it a prophylactic, and that would cut out the people who would make zillions from a vaccine. People are enraged about the 9/11 lights not going on this year. In less than 24 hours one facebook group has amassed a little less than 100,000 members. If he can flip NYC and the suburbs, and enraging all those who were alive on that day, the kids raised without a parent, families who lost someone, he’ll flip it.

Yes, Tunnels to Towers will have their tribute but it wont be the lights at the towers.That stupid move cant be undone. They said that we would never forget. We haven't. But others have. The pain is now ten-fold.

My post grad college looks impressive but all the real work was done at CC & state colleges.

Strangely, on-line learning does provide interpersonal relationships & a safe place to discuss emotions, thoughts and feelings. I’ve been doing online learning since Covid. Most of my students talk to each other outside if class!

Perhaps this SJW is just not familiar with ways to make their students comfortable?

As a PT Professor, and FT in my field, I find other professors nuts. They honesty blame parents for everything.

I got into a pissing match on R/Professors because I didn't agree with their narrative/tweet of “no wonder your kids are rebelling, you sheltered them and now they are meeting diverse people” The other professors couldn't wrap their heads around how the frontal lobe is vulnerable until about age 25, and how it is good to have good caring parents!

I now teach on Zoom (I have full control of the classroom, not China) and my students have been able to be vulnerable, They have discuss innermost feelings, more than I would have expected in online learning.

My students are also adults & I could care less who else is listening. (Usually cats, dogs, and small children)

& yearly car taxes after being taxed at the dealership.

Re: Homeschooling & having to work.... Did it with kiddo for 4 years, working split shifts with hubby & teaching half & half on our hours off. Honestly, it doesn't take long (because you aren't waiting for 30 kids of varying intellect to finish.) So, yes, it is possible for a dual income to do. There are also so many resources & Homeschooling Co-op out there. There are so many growing. When you homeschool everything is educational, its just how you engage your child. You just have to do your research & make it work. There is also a ton of free educational material online.

And check your local laws. Un-enroll kiddo because otherwise they will mark them truant.

Second point, loosely related, kiddo now goes to a 12-month school. (His choice, I’m PTA president & nothing gets by me) They have been back since June. No one is dead. These RedForEd teachers are being histrionic.

We have a saying where I work (I am not a nurse but my employment has APRN’s, RN’s, LPN’s & MD’s): “If I am dying, drag me to the street and call my husband.” There are Maybe 2-3 nurses I would allow near me where I work.

Also: There is TONS of research & data discussing incivility in the nursing profession.
