So, I'm not a trucker but I wonder if the cabs these days don't have a LOT of routing information readily available (on screen?) for the drivers. Maybe dispatch could help you find a more workable route than the 101?
I'm a HUGE fan of most of our transport drivers of ANY flavors - even if some of the companies are monsters. So, if you do decide to drive, you have my prayers going with you and I hope you find a great company that will treat you well. I used to do electrical construction all over the south-east and up in Wisconsin and I'm aware of a couple of transport companies up north that have good reputations. I realize that may be out of your territory but, if you need some names to check out, gimme a shout.
