It would have been weird if Trump suddenly became nice and mannered. There was no time for rebuttal, the only way for Trump to rebutt against Biden's lies is to interrupt him. Maybe Biden would have gaffed, but would it be that news breaking? Biden lied every second he had, shutting that down is, in my opinion, a better strategy, considering there was no time for rebuttal.
