It's not so much the guns. It's our rights of self-defense.
Even if you had guns and used it against and assailant who is threatening your life and limb. You can still be charged.
Self-defense can be used post hoc in your defense at trial. But does not prevent charges from being laid. It is common if your case gets popular coverage in the press that you can get by. But it does not exist as a right that you can defend yourself. I mean, people DO. But it is not protected as it is in the USA.
Not much of a propblem?
Here in West Australia we have the https://www.nyoongarpatrol.com.au/ There are similar chapters throughout the state.
Basically if one of the fine upstanding members of our first nations people is acting a cunt, you call them up and they send some other more sober members of our first nations people to round them up and take them away before said cunt gets themselves arrested.
Like you wouldn't believe. We even have a state owned channel which is supposed to be "unbiased." I think it's actually a law. But are little more than a left wing propaganda machine at news time.
And I'm on the west coast. The protests barely made a blip on our news channels.
This is actually primarily a response to Australian regulations. Facebook news uses other news services content without paying for it. A law was recently passed saying Facebook needs to negotiate a price for using the content from news outlets.
At the moment when you share a news story on facebook you can read it on facebook. Giving the original news creator no traffic. So they're losing out on eyeballs and ad revenue even though their property is being used.
Facebook have recently said they'll ban Australians from sharing news stories. And that updated ToS is to cover that eventuality. Definitely kills a few birds with one stone though. So maybe it was in the works for a while. But all the news here is that that is why those terms were added.

excuse me! teacher!? I have an entry.
Its more symbolic. As a member of the Western world that doesn't live in a country with quite the civil rights that you are blessed with, I can understand the sentiment.
It's the same reason Hong Kong people fly the USA flag, or during tje Arab spring etc. While couched in language and phrasing a bit on the nose. The context of people flying the USA flag who are not American is a call to arms and symbolism of what we'd dearly love.
But as we live in "largely free" countries our countrymen never quite see the importance of rallying for a full set of civil rights like the Bill pf rights you all enjoy. At least until they are fucked over by them.
French Flag is Blue White Red strips vertically.
Germany the horizontal black white red is a old time flag from their empire days.
