Came here to say exactly this. It’s outrageous and criminal for an insurance company to deny coverage of a generic med and only allow a name brand version. There’s literally no valid explanation I can think of to explain why a company would require only the most expensive option. It’s so obviously just for their profit and collusion with doctors to write a certain number of scripts. It costs me vastly less to pay out of pocket using goodrx for a generic than getting the name brand with insurance. So at the end of the day I barely even use my coverage so they’re just straight pocketing my money and paying nothing for my medications. This should be illegal
