This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m not a fan of posts like this and those making fun of the death of George Floyd. While I don’t sympathize with the individuals who died, I don’t think Kyle was a hero. I don’t think of him as a murderer as it was clearly self defense, and he was there initially to support the protestors. Had he not been there, he would never have been in this situation. I can’t even imagine what he’s going through mentally after killing these people. I do applaud him for turning himself in right afterward. This was a bad situation all around. Death is not something to be glorified, and I’m a bit disappointed in the rhetoric here surrounding these events on the Donald. On a moral level, I’m a bit disappointed that mods are sticky-ing posts cheering these deaths. To me, this sounds no better than the individuals on reddit and in the riots/protests saying F the police; pigs in a blanket, fry’em like bacon; calling to kill the cops. Up until recently, I’ve thought this forum to be better than that.
I understand that it feels like justice isn’t being served in these democratic communities. They’re letting criminals, attack/kill, burn, loot, and destroy a lot of times without consequences. People like the Mccloskeys are the ones getting the short end of the stick. It’s not right, but they ended up prevailing. Of course you have cases where justice hasn’t been served as in the horrendous death of innocent individuals like Cannon Hinnant. I think just desserts will be served this November, and I can only hope that a red wave shows up to put a stop to the nonsense. I pray for these Governors to accept Federal help and for these riots to end.
I think law enforcement are the individuals who should be dealing with these criminals, particularly in areas like where this event took place. What are the odds that all the people he shot were felons? These are dangerous individuals without morals and it’s been established that a huge portion of the individuals present in these riots are criminals.
My husband and I have always been conservative. Like you, in 2016, we voted for Ted Cruz in the primaries. When that didn’t pan out, there was no chance in hell that we’d vote for Crooked Hillary even though we expected she would win because the “polls said so”. Although, Trump was hugely beating the polls in his primary, so I had a tiny bit of hope. We didn’t trust Trump to be conservative because he was registered Democrat not too long ago and he came off so un-presidential in the republican debates (although, they were a bit amusing, and it’s the first time I’ve actually watched all the debates. Tuesday’s debate was a train wreck, but I digress.) So we voted Libertarian at the top of the ticket even though we didn’t like the pothead because if a third party garners 5% of the national vote, they’re automatically on the ballot in the next general election (unfortunately, he only got 3%).
It was pretty hilarious watching the news anchors that night as Trump scooped up all the electoral votes. CNN trying to explain how Hillary could still win, and their faces when she lost another state lol. I’m looking forward to watching them again in a month lol. Our local news station is liberal, but our local news anchors are likely conservative, they were hiding (not very well) their smiles when Trump picked up more states.
Surprisingly, Trump has been fairly conservative (except for fiscally and his previous SCOTUS picks weren’t quite as conservative as we would’ve liked. We would love someone like Mike Lee (or his brother) or Ted Cruz to be selected, but it’s probably important to keep them in the Senate.), and, even more surprisingly, I kind of like his rhetoric and pushing back at all the people hating on him. He’s not phased by any of it. It energizes him and his supporters.
Whenever we travel for vacation (granted it’s primarily countryside traveling between National/State Parks - not through major cities: Utah - shout out to Zion NP, Colorado, Commiefornia, Nevada, Georgia), we see a lot of MAGA/No more BS signs/flags. We live in Florida; we would be surprised if Biden wins this state. We are both voting for him this election, and we can only hope it’s a huge blowout so that the democrats think long and hard about continuing to push a socialist agenda. I think the only way a lesson might be learned is if a red wave occurred and republicans sweep the house, senate and presidency. Seems unlikely, but you can only hope and pray that people won’t stand for what’s been happening in the last four years and especially the last six months. I truly wonder if it would even matter then - too much hatred for Trump for some inexplicable reason.
We are praying for his and Melania’s health. MAGA 2020!!
