Fun story, I did some outside sales for a while, and "There's no way in Hell I'll go to Gary, Indiana." was a perfectly acceptable line if reasoning with management. Literally no push back.

Their lizard brain is so angry, but their rational brain recognizes that they shouldn't be angry (because it's irrational and they have investments so this helps them.) I may have gently nudged them with the idea that the recovery is good for them. They pretty much refused to acknowledge that and wanted to stay angry, so now they are angry on behalf of black people at Trump. Because everything is Trump's fault, even if there's no possible way it could be Trump's fault. It like watching toddlers pout.
