My data exists in three buildings on two properties on solid state drives, not counting the source devices — those backups also perform incremental. Critical data is also backed up in hard copy.

It helps that I don’t generate much data beyond photos these days, since I hate computers lol

Yep. I have data backed up within my home, then mirrored to my cabin, and keep hard drives with triplicate data in a detached building. I don’t even take EMP as a likely threat but I even plan for that eventuality because I’d rather err on the side of caution than be without important data

Even if you believe you live in a free country, back your important shit up. I have a small server at my cabin that I backup to, and also use a $50 external hard drive each year to do a “dump”.

The only thing I use “cloud storage” (aka “other peoples computers”) is for transferring data that isn’t sensitive.

All you can do is invest in the system that exists with thought given to the future. You can shift investments around — if you have them. If you never start saving because you think all the systems suck, it is kind of a moot point since you don’t have anything to lose anyway.

I try to boil it down simply: save ten cents out of every dollar. Maximize use of tax advantaged accounts. When rules change, move money. Physical assets like paid off real estate index to inflation and offset ongoing expenses when you’re older.

I anticipate being able to retire off of any one of my strategies— real estate, retirement accounts and brokerage accounts. I don’t expect to receive social so that that isn’t included in my models, and I only need one of them to work, at which point the other two are icing on the cake.

So rather than choosing to go to a different bar, you support the state banning people from having a choice in the matter?

And how is calling out the fact that the GOP is making up bullshit excuses “winning”?

They don’t need a vote to have an inquiry. They only need a vote to impeach. They’re only holding this unnecessary vote because they know they don’t have the votes to pass it, so they can tell their voters “well, we tried” during their campaigns, without admitting that the whole vote was absolute bullshit made up to make it look like they were doing something while actively subverting an actual impeachment.

They’re playing voters for fools.

No, what is going on is that the GOP house is playing voters for fools. You need a vote to formally impeach, but you don’t need one for an inquiry. They’re only voting on an “inquiry” because they know they don’t have the votes to pass one, so they can just pawn it off as “well, schucks, we tried but the Democrats blocked it. Send us more campaign cash so we can win back the House [that we are doing everything in our power do logjam and sabotage]”

It’s all smoke and mirrors. They don’t need to vote for an inquiry, and they’ve waited long enough to boot santos and for McCarthy to dip. They’re not going to get the votes they don’t need in the first place.

A house resolution wouldn’t go to the senate anyway, it’s not a bill.

Never at all — why do you think they got rid of Santos and McCarthy bounced? They’re not going to get the votes.

Which is all a cover, since they don’t actually need a formal vote to launch an inquiry— it’s a fundamental part of their job, that they’re not going to do, and that they’re lying to you about.

I read this as it’s illegal to comply with a robber and you have a legal responsibility to prevent them from acquiring your firearm with deadly force.

Toss some chairs and rope in the back corner, slap up a sign and call it a day.

I don’t go to urban areas or much of anywhere that has 5g yet. From my vantage I do see an unbelievable epidemic of absolute insanity, almost all of it in areas that would likely have 5g.

Not bothered by it, they’ll never walk this far over so many hills, they can have at it.

Thank you for the source, AND an archive link to boot. You’re very prolific and very much appreciated if I haven’t already told you

Can you redo that with pastries? Guys who eat entire meals of meat don’t end up obese, at least not like former Governor fudgeRound

Statute of limitations is 10 years, right? No reason for red state DAs to haul in all of Hillary’s alternate electors.

I’ll consider, in 2028, if he’s still saying the right thing and hasn’t stabbed us in the back. I hope that condition is satisfied, but I’m sick to death of getting burned by smooth talking psychopaths.

If you wouldn't de-claw a cat, why would you de-gun a man.

I haven’t heard it argued like that before. It’s out of the ordinary enough it might actually trigger some baseline analysis among the higher-functioning. I may have to test drive this.

Because he wants to make even the Vietnam protests look like policy successes by comparison. If anything can bring the half-rational democrats to back Trump, it would be committing troops. There are still quite a few vehemently anti-war democrats out there who view it as seriously as I view abortion.
