Also as a Texan (actually a recent transplant from up north) I can say Texans generally freak out about sub-freezing temps.
Yesterday in south Texas the forecast was for lows in the +20s F overnight, with some freezing rain, but above freezing by 8am. By 5pm almost ALL grocery stores, gas stations and all businesses were closed. AND we'll have 40F by 2pm.
I just hope I don't become like this after a couple years out of the northern winters.😓
