My firm decided to bring us back to the office. Since I share an office with a buddy they said we would have to rotate a MWF/TH schedule so that we wouldnt be in the office together on the same day. The look on their faces when they said it and I responded with "Why? We go fishing at least 3x a week."

This should at a minimum result in revocation of any security clearance. Call them in and ask "have you ever supported any marxist or communist organization?" When they say "No" it should be revoked for lying.
Back in my day... I knew a girl who didnt get her clearance because she was not honest (claims she forgot) that she bounced a check in the 7 years before she applied. She never got to do her job and was put into a box to do a menial admin job.

Once i graduated and started working I was paying off student loans so I stayed for a few years in the poor area I lived. I would get plenty of "you are so lucky!" Luck?!? When you were out having fun I was working hard. Thats the secret sauce.
