Shutting down travel temporarily and encouraging good/better hygiene - I'm all for it.

Stocking up on toilet paper (of all things...), the stock market mania, and the local/regional Pandemic Madagascar meme responses to SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING. - doesn't make a lick of fucking sense.

Case in point: NOLA shut down its St. Patrick's Day parade originally scheduled for this weekend... but they're not going to close off Bourbon Street, a place notorious for people drinking, carousing, and openly spewing various bodily fluids which increases the likelihood of spreading disease, are they?

Sensibility is one thing, and a damn good thing, but without cool heads and common sense, the sky might as well be falling.

The economy bit absolutely kills me. You know what all the people who love to tell me what's what about the economy have in common? They're not economists.

So few at my office, particularly people in my generation, follow the long-term trends and understand just how good we have it compared to 5, 10, even 20 years ago. Even if their baseline is Hussein-era levels of economic drudgery, they can't see just how massive a cushion against recessions DJT has built for this country over the past three years.

No, instead it's all "ZOMFG t3h DOW IZ DOWN, hOw dO sHoRt mArKeT?!?!" or "mUh ReCeSsIoN iZ cUmMiNg, jUsT U wAiT!!!".

Idiots. Numpties McDumblefuck. Maybe one day they'll figure it out...

Short answer: No.

Long answer: "Look, Fat, my policy has always been true to the... the core of my time spent as a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool, where I learned the values of - oh, quit being a horse's ass - you know my policy! It's all about, you know, the thing! You could've voted for the other Sanders, but you voted for Sleepy Joe! You know why! I don't know why, but you know why! Come November 2016, Bush'll have it coming to him, out behind the shed, so that's my policy!"

It was the tastiest dog I'd ever eaten, and the beer paired really nicely with it. </s>

All good points, particularly the points about institutionalizing and weaponizing (/u/TD_Covfefe_Crusader) the behavior; those factors in particular make today's case unique.

The scale of the problem is also an issue; it'll come down to however the pushback shakes out, and whether the media machine will control the opposition to their own weapon. I would argue in the positive, that interpersonal communication and word-of-mouth - everything not social media - are undercutting the machine that would otherwise control the consensus; the revolution is not being televised, so to speak.

Think this will be any different?

To an extent, yes. By and large, homosexuality has been around throughout recorded history, with different cultures admonishing, ignoring, or accepting it. That's not a personal endorsement of the behavior - it's just a fact.

This tranny shit, however, is a much later movement and, given its monstrosity (in that its aims and ideas are monstrous), it has several strikes against its longevity.

  1. Publicity. The flamboyance of tranny degeneracy draws attention to everything it can. With increasing awareness from a public more attentive to political aims than ever, most of those in the trans camp see that as a plus, assuming everyone will accept them the same way gay rights were worked into the system over the past several decades. This would be the case were it not for--

  2. Targeting children. A massive negative for pretty much all subversive degeneracy trying to fly under the radar. Parents worldwide look at this stuff and echo the mantra, "Sure... as long as it's not my kid." No matter how many stars try to get normies to follow them, no parent wants to see their child turn into a freak, which brings us to the third issue--

  3. Unnatural aberration. No healthy or intelligent human being on God's Earth convinces itself that it's another gender, physically or chemically alters its own genitalia to follow that self-convinced delusion, and tries to convince others that, not only are they not mentally ill, but that those who comment on said mental illness are being mean to it.

In short, we have a public push for open displays of mental illness and freakish self-mutilation, all targeting children to convince them that such behavior is OK. Even if you argue that homosexuality sits somewhere on that mental illness spectrum, tranny shit is FAR beyond that owing to the bodily mutilation factor. It's so far beyond the pale that not only should fags condemn that shit, they should hope that the gains they've made in today's public acceptance/apathy toward homosexuality aren't wrapped up in whatever backlash comes for trannies.

But what the hell do I know, in the end...

EDIT: minor word changes.
