Many leftists I know think about first order concequences.
A leads to B.
But very few ever go on to think what effect B has on C, D, E, F, G, etc.
You can usually tell if a person thinks deeply if they consider "higher order" concequences.
As an example:
Poor people don't make enough money, therefore we should increase the minimum wage.
I grew up being indoctrinated by the left. I was an immigrant who moved to Canada when I was 4 into a very left leaning part of Canada. My peer group was all lefties, and I wanted to fit in as a kid. I rejected my families culture, Eastern Orthodox Christians, to try to embrace the culture around me. But there was always an itch, a feeling that something was wrong and I wasn't being true to the values I was raised with.
It took me a while, but seeing the way Trump was treated in 2016 was the real eye opener for me. It was insane to me that the media was intentionally taking his words out of context and lying to the people about what he was saying. All it takes is some due diligence to look at what he says in his rallies vs what the media portrayed he said. It was complete lies. That was the moment I realized it was all a lie.
I've lost friends over this, but I also learned that there are many more like me, even in my peer group. They were just silent and afraid to speak up. I learned that there are people who will stick by you regardless of your views because your values are what matter, and those have never changed.
It's also brought me closer to my family again. I feel a bit like the prodigal son. For so long I was ashamed by my parents because they wanted to raise me with traditional values. But now, I realize that they were always right and trying to only do what they thought was best for their children. I'm blessed to have parents who cared so much and never gave up on me when I strayed.
To be fair. I think violence may be necessary if all other options have been exhausted.
I don't want it to come to that. I think many people are unfortunately misguided and will be willing to fight for a cause they don't fully understand.
People on the left are not irredeemable, many are just misguided. This is coming from someone who used to be a leftie in my youth.
As the saying goes:
"Anyone under 25 who isn't a socialist has no heart, anyone over 35 who isn't a conservative has no brain"
Well, you see, black people have been oppressed for hundreds of years, the only way to make it fair is to give them everything you own, be happy about doing it, and then let them vote 3x each.

I find it extremely ironic how many lefties hate Boris, but hang on every word like gospel. It doesn't help that we have socialised medicine that doesn't have the capacity to handle this. You get what you pay for, right?

The price I pay for working in a mostly left-wing industry (entertainment) is having to listen to uninformed creatives who think they know better than the rest.
It's absolutely sad that a man who spent his entire life studying totalitarian regimes, and trying to help people understand the psychology behind it, was put up as a villain by the media.
